In addition to hosting countless university athletic events over many decades, the Field House has long housed sport, exercise and fitness, and recreation programs for the university.  Conveniently located on the edge of the University of Iowa's health sciences campus west of the Iowa River, the Field House's proximity to the University of Iowa's renowned academic medical center is ideal for students pursuing pre-professional programs like medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant, optometry, podiatry, and dentistry, as well as academic careers in biomedical or physiological science.
