Degree: BA Health and Human Physiology (Health Studies), Minor in Spanish, Minor in Psychology

Year: May 2020

I graduated in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Physiology (Health Studies track) and minors in Spanish and Psychology. I am currently enrolled in a Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis. Beyond my role as a student, I am conducting research exploring the healthcare gaps experienced by stroke survivors under the age of forty.

My current academic pursuits were made possible by the University of Iowa’s HHP department. The courses offered in the HHP curriculum focus on the current shift in medicine toward a more holistic definition of health. It is unique in its emphasis on social determinants of health, built environment, health insurance, and hospital policies. The department’s commitment to delivering the most up-to-date education to their future healthcare providers is seeded in its dedication to the healthcare system. The cumulation of my knowledge through this program has given me the background and passion to look at health at an individual, community, and national level.
