Stephanie Borst, assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Health and Human Physiology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was accepted into the Scholarly Teaching Program, an initiative by the University of Iowa Center for Teaching

Borst, who teaches HHP:2310 Nutrition and Health, HHP:3030 Lifestyle Medicine, and HHP:4310 Sport and Exercise Nutrition, says she is committed to integrating evidence-based practices into her courses. With a background as a registered dietitian and years of clinical experience, she brings unique perspectives to her classroom.

The Scholarly Teaching Program connects teaching-focused faculty across campus to collaborate, refine teaching methods, and attend a national teaching and learning conference. Participants, including Borst, will travel to the Teaching Professor Conference in Washington, D.C., this June, where she looks forward to networking and learning new strategies for engaging students.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to collaborate with others and further develop my teaching practices,” said Borst. “This program will help me stay up-to-date with evidence-based teaching methods while continuing to grow as an instructor.”

The program, funded through the SPARC Strategic Initiatives Fund, supports instructional-track faculty and advances the University of Iowa’s commitment to teaching excellence.
