Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most regarded academic honor society, recognizing students who demonstrate excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.

Founded in 1776, the society celebrates outstanding academic achievement and promotes lifelong learning. The University of Iowa’s Alpha of Iowa chapter, established in 1895, upholds this tradition by inviting top students to join based on their academic record and commitment to the liberal arts.
